Overview of Millennium Trek

The Millennium Trek, as its name beautifully reflects, was officially opened at the dawn of the new millennium in the year 2000. It is one of Nepal’s unique community-based homestay trekking trails, designed to connect travelers directly with local families, culture, and the pristine natural beauty of the middle hills. Unlike the busy and commercial trekking routes, the Millennium Trek invites trekkers to step into a world of authentic hospitality, village-to-village journeys, and cultural immersion.

The trekking route stretches from Dulegauda in Tanahun district to Rambachha in Syangja district, passing through the lush green landscapes of the Gandaki Province. It is often described as the Mid-Hill Ridge-line Trek, with an elevation ranging from 420 meters to 1,709 meters above sea level. Its positioning southeast of Pokhara and northeast of Walling Bazaar makes it both easily accessible and yet blissfully off-the-beaten-path.

At Beauty Nepal Adventure, we believe the Millennium Trek is more than just a walking journey – it is a cultural exchange, a chance to live with local families, share meals, listen to stories, and become a part of traditions that have remained untouched for centuries.

Why Choose the Millennium Trek?

  • Village-to-Village Homestay Experience – Instead of staying in commercial lodges, trekkers are warmly welcomed into homestays, experiencing the true Nepali way of life.
  • Cultural Immersion – The route passes through Magar, Gurung, Newar, and Brahmin villages, each with unique traditions, dances, food, and festivals.
  • Natural Beauty – Dense Sal forests, rolling terraced hillsides, cascading waterfalls, and serene river valleys create a constantly changing backdrop for the trek.
  • Panoramic Mountain Views – From ridge-top settlements, trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
  • Easy to Moderate Trek – With elevations ranging below 1,800m, this trek is suitable for almost anyone, including families and beginners, with no risk of high-altitude sickness.
  • Sustainability & Local Benefit – Managed by the Millennium Trek Management Committee, this trek empowers local communities, promotes responsible tourism, and sustains traditional lifestyles.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m / 4,593ft)

Your adventure begins as soon as you land at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. A friendly representative from Beauty Nepal Adventure will be waiting at the arrival gate, holding a placard with your name. After a warm welcome with a traditional Nepali gesture, you will be transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle.Over night in Kathmandu.

After breakfast, we set off for Pokhara, Nepal’s second-largest and most beautiful city. Guests can choose a 20–25 minute scenic flight, offering aerial views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Manaslu, and Annapurna ranges, or take a 7–8 hour overland drive through winding hillsides, river valleys, and terraced farms.

On arrival in Pokhara, you will immediately feel the calm and charm of this lake city. The reflection of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail, 6,997m) on Phewa Lake is a sight to behold. Pokhara is also the main gateway for Annapurna treks, and you can enjoy an easy evening stroll by the lakeside. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.

Your journey begins with a warm welcome from Beauty Nepal Adventure. After breakfast in your Pokhara hotel, we depart at 08:00 AM by local bus for Khairenitar, a scenic drive of about 1.5 hours. Here, the trek truly begins.

As you walk through the whispering Sal forests, the calls of birds and the cool shade of the trees set the mood for adventure. Lunch will be served at Kalimaryang, a quiet village wrapped in serenity. By afternoon, you’ll arrive in Dagam, a traditional Magar settlement.

This village offers not only majestic sunrise and sunset views over Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, but also insights into rural life: honey hunting, age-old tiger traps, and warm cultural interactions. A perfect opening chapter to your trek.

Awaken to the golden glow of sunrise over Dagam, and descend gradually through green hills and hanging bridges. The trail passes through Lilachowk, where you’ll rest before continuing toward Pyuridovan.

Today’s walk is a blend of natural wonders and conservation stories. You will witness local initiatives for vulture conservation, highlighting Nepal’s commitment to biodiversity. By evening, in Pyuridovan, you’ll experience something truly unforgettable—a traditional shamanic ritual filled with mystery, dance, and chants that echo the healing traditions of generations.

The morning trek leads you upwards through Sal forest toward Lamagaun, a Gurung village where tradition and community life remain strong. Sharing meals with the locals, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Gurung culture.

Later, the trail descends to Gharadi, one of the region’s largest Gurung villages. Here lies the legendary Millennium Cave, an immense natural chamber rich in folklore and adventure. Exploring its depths feels like stepping into another world. Overnight stay with Gurung hospitality ensures this day remains etched in memory.

Today is a day of both natural and cultural highlights. After breakfast, you descend from Gharadi and hike upward again to fully explore the mystical Millennium Cave, an underground marvel of limestone formations, waterfalls, and hidden shrines.

After the cave exploration, lunch will be enjoyed in Kalkhu village, where villagers’ warm smiles accompany your meal. The afternoon trek continues to Kalamakot, a serene settlement surrounded by cascading waterfalls. As the sun sets behind the peaks, Kalamakot greets you with spectacular mountain views and tranquil village life.

From Kalamakot, the trail weaves through rolling forests and scattered villages. Lunch is served in Khairikot, after which you continue on a gentle but rewarding up-and-down trail.

The evening at Pyarsing village is a highlight of cultural immersion. Expect traditional dances, stories by the fire, and perhaps even a bonfire celebration where locals share their folk songs and rhythms. This night celebrates community spirit, laughter, and authentic Nepali warmth.

The trail today traces the ridgelines, rewarding you with panoramic views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and distant Himalayan giants. Lunch is served in Buchakhani, a village known for its organic flavors.

By evening, you reach Rangrung, a traditional Newar village where ancient culture meets rural simplicity. This day offers a rare glimpse into Newar traditions, architecture, and cuisine in a hilltop setting.

On your final morning, take in the sunrise over Rangrung before descending gently to Bhagar. The trail follows the Seti River valley, where lush hills frame your last moments in the countryside.

From Bhagar, we take a local vehicle back to Pokhara, where your trek concludes. Though the journey ends, the memories of offbeat trails, cultural encounters, and mountain panoramas will stay with you forever.

Take a well-deserved rest day in Pokhara. You can spend the day relaxing by Phewa Lake, boating, getting a massage, shopping for souvenirs, or optionally visiting places like the Peace Pagoda, Davis Falls, or the International Mountain Museum and other beautiful places.

After breakfast, return to Kathmandu by scenic flight (25 mins) or road drive (7 hrs). Upon arrival, our team will transfer you to your hotel or directly to the international airport depending on your schedule.

As you bid farewell, Beauty Nepal Adventure hopes this journey has filled your soul with unforgettable mountain memories, spiritual experiences, and cultural treasures.
